‘Nigel. Above All, Do Not Riot the Rat Race’ is a more conceptual collection featuring a mixture between wearable streetwear and workwear upcycling to create textured silhouettes and textures.

The collection is inspired by the ‘office loser Nigel’ who is sick of his mundane, repetitive role as an office IT Technician and therefore is at the brink of insanity and ‘riots the rat race’. The pieces are inspired by the Poem ‘The Warning Signs We Should Have Made’ by Hannah Jane Walker and Chris Thorpe and was interpreted from a humorous standpoint to represent Nigel’s loss of control and sanity in the workplace.

The garments have a quirky feel to them, using plugs, workwear fabric remnants, graphic prints and repurposed tie layering combined with ready-to-wear leisurewear symbolising Nigel’s state of mind. The final product was a marl grey graphic print hoodie, featuring a layered tie sleeve detail, plug drawstrings and a built-in laptop bag.
